Isn't it against the law to be naked in a public place? Here I am in Kapuskasing, the Model Town of the North. The weather is ridiculously warm, so we can't do any of the testing we came up here to do. It's actually colder down in Oshawa than it is up here. How ironic! To pass the time, we're sitting around catching up with email and voicemail, having conference calls or just staring blankly into space. Not much different than if we were in the office. But we have been having good food out at restaurants. Roasted red pepper and tomato soup, chicken souvlaki, lobster tail. Mmm! I think I'll be gaining a lot of weight this trip. A week or two ago, I was washing my hair in the communal shower at the local swimming pool. I glanced to my right and ugh! Naked old Chinese woman beside me! I quickly turned away and edged to the left side of my shower to increase the distance between us. I tried to force myself to think about something else, but I could not help but to be acutely aware that there was something very wrinkly and very saggy standing very close to me. I hastily rinsed my hair and was about to escape when I sensed a wrinkly and saggy arm snake around me. This naked old Chinese woman, who was on my right, had actually reached behind me to hang her bathing suit on the support bar – the support bar that was on my left! And then she reached again to put her shampoo bottle on the bar! Oh the horrors upon horrors! There was no touching involved, but I felt so very violated. Sure, I know that someday I myself will be aged and unattractive, but I will never willfully put my naked wrinkly and saggy old self into someone else's personal bubble.
